Wag The Dog (1997)

Nominated for 2 Academy Awards, this film starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro was written by Helen Henkin and David Mamet, and co-starred Anne Heche, Dennis Leary and William Macy. A fake war during the Presidential campaign of the US is used as a scheme by Hoffman, and while the war is supposedly with Albania, it is clear the actual war is Desert Storm.
